About HostelBookers

The journey

HostelBookers began in 2003 with a very simple idea – to provide customers with a way to book the best budget accommodation all over the world with absolutely no booking fees! It had never been done before, and independent travelers looking for budget accommodation had come to expect a booking fee as the norm.

Here at HostelBookers, we felt that our customers deserved better value. So, buzzing with enthusiasm and new ideas, we set off to introduce the world to the first free hostels and budget accommodation booking website – which is exactly the way we, as travel enthusiasts ourselves, think it should be!

Since then, HostelBookers has gone from strength to strength and now employs a team of over 80 people. As our business has grown, so has our offering; we now have over 17,000 properties available in more than 3,500 locations worldwide, and provide our customers with an ever-increasing range of accommodation, from camping, self catering apartments and guesthouses to hostels and budget hotels.

Although we're based in London, we are proud to say that we hail from all over the world and our friendly office is made up of nationalities from as far afield as the Philippines and Brazil! Every day we learn something new about the places we have visited, or are yet to visit; and this makes what we do all that much more of an adventure.

By combining our first-hand local knowledge with years of experience in the travel industry, and a passion for travel, we can channel our ideas straight back in to our work. All of which means we can honestly say that we love what we do!

Even as we've grown, we have maintained our focus on two very important things: working hard, and having fun while we do it!

We work hard to ensure that we can offer our customers great accommodation, wherever they are in the world, but what has always made – and will continue to make – HostelBookers unique from other booking services is that we charge no booking fees. This enables us to provide quality budget accommodation worldwide to independent travelers, with absolutely no extra cost to them – which we think is fantastic!

Here at HostelBookers, we think that professionalism and reliability is key and it's our dedicated staff, positive attitude and solid relationships with customers and suppliers that have enabled us to achieve what we have today.
