Russian Man Commits Suicide In Forest Near Hotel

A Russian man suffering from heart disease and Alzheimers, walked out of his hotel early in the morning of 1st January, leaving his wife behind, and went into a nearby forest where he hung himself, using pieces of rope he found in the forest. The body was discovered 6 days later on the ground, in an advanced state of decay.

Sattahip, 7th January 2011 (PDN) : At approximately 8.00 am the Najomtien Police were notified about the body of a foreigner which had been found dead in a forest, lying dead under a Camachile tree, leaving a pungent smell in the area. A unit of officials were sent to investigate.

After questioning a security guard (Mr. Kriangkrai Mongkonpan) and checking CCTV cameras in front of the Ravindra beach resort, it was found that the suicide victim, Russian national Mr.Yumagu Roy (50), walked out of his hotel on the 1st January 2011 at 08.00 am. Several moments later his wife, Ms Yoygenko Roy, came looking for him, without success. She had informed the police at Najomtien Police Station, that her husband had gone missing, reason unknown. She also said that he suffered from a heart disease and memory loss due to Alzheimer disease.

After the police had discovered the they informed Ms.Yoygenko’s through her travel agency, TEZ tour, and asked her to come and confirm the identity of the corpse. At the sight of Mr.Yumagu’s body, wearing white pants and a white shirt, Ms.Yoygenku began to cry hysterically, repeating that this was her husband, with whom she had come to visit Pattaya, Thailand, to escape the cold in Russia.

Officials said there were no wounds or signs of struggle or attack on the body. In the left pocket of Mr.Yumagu Roy’s pants was a bundle of red plastic rope which indicates that he had pre-planned his suicide.. The red plastic rope however was very thin, which is why investigation officials speculate he had searched for other pieces of string or rope in the forest, tied them together and eventually hung himself by the Camachile tree. After Mr.Yumagu Roy had suffocated, the rope couldn’t hold his weight, and the body fell to the ground, where it slowly began to decay. The body was taken to Nitiwaet hospital for further examination.
