Sheraton Hanoi Hotel Review:

Frommer's Review
Just a 10-minute ride north of town, this smart, upscale hotel sits on a peninsula jutting out into Hanoi's picturesque West Lake in a neighborhood popular with the local expat community (which means good restaurants and services in the area). The hotel makes up for any inconvenience to town by being completely self-contained, with fine dining options and hotel services that cover all bases, from local touring to business support. Rooms are done in an ultratidy, contemporary style typical of Sheraton hotels, certainly nothing to write home about but cozy and familiar. All rooms have fine views of the lake. Bathrooms are large, with big bathtubs, separate glass shower, and fine wood and granite detail. In-house dining is tops, and transport to town is available 24 hours. The hotel is just reopening after a delay of some 7 years due to the economic collapse in 1997. Construction, though, is ongoing, with promises of more rooms as the upper floors are completed.

Sheraton Hanoi Hotel: Pretty good by the West Lake By applefarm - virtualtourist.com
Sheraton is one of the five star hotels in Hanoi - the alternatives in a similar category are the two Sofitel hotels (though Metropole is admittedly in a category above), Melia, Hilton, Moevenpick and the Intercontinental. The Intercontinental which is virtually next door is more modern and polished, but Sheraton is still pretty good if you can take 90s glitz. Sheraton is slightly outside the centre of Hanoi, but the Tay Ho neighborhood and Xuan Dieu street is in walking distance with plenty of shops, restaurants etc. Taking a taxi to town should not be a problem. The pool area is pleasant (though water not heated during winter). Get a room with a nice view of the lake (almost all). There are some small pagodas close by, and the Tay Ho pagoda which is one of the most popular in Hanoi is not far. Be sure to tour the old quarters, see the Ethnology museum, and Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, and then relax in the relative quiet area of the Sheraton. Staff are quite exceptional for Hanoi standard.

Sheraton in Hanoi - on the Tay Ho lake  By calilyliu - virtualtourist.com
Link @ Sheraton provides needed free internet access - really great for the tourist as well as the business man. Rooms clean and elegantly decorated. It seems to have been recently renovated. It was one of the nicer Sheratons I have stayed in, and would definitely stay there again.

You get what you pay for by brianmdr9 - tripadvisor.com

Recently spent 4 nights in Hanoi and as a base to see Halong Bay. I had originally booked one of the higher rated boutique hotels in Hanoi as they were much cheaper. In the end I decided to stay in this business traveller hotel with the amenities I needed to stay connected to home.

The price was clearly an American price as this is a large and fairly luxurious western hotel by Hanoi standards. So to that extent you get what you pay for. It is off the beaten path if you are going as a traveller but I gather many of the guests are there for business gatherings as the traveler hotels seem to be clustered near the more central old quarter.

If money is not the issue and you want Western comfort and convenience this is a good value. You can pay more in Hanoi and be a step ahead or you can pay less and, much less, if a bed, A/C and a cheap breakfast is all you need.

My biggest complaint is the overpriced and not competent travel desk and the nickel and dimeing for every little service which set me back. Next time I would try one of the Hanoi Elegance Hotels at a third of the price if im in Hanoi.

Comfortable business & transit stay By DSwede - virtualtourist.com
Sheraton is on the north side of Hanoi. It offers a decent location, both accessible to the city and to the airport (~30 minutes depending on traffic). Rooms were very clean and very comfortable. Internet is offered in rooms and lobby, but by provider "link", so unless you are a subscriber, you must pay. Breakfast buffet is very good quality. There are the typical higher
