I stayed for a week at the Pacific Hotel in Ha Noi, what can I say. Sure it is not the Ritz, but I did not want that. The Pacific gave me an excellent combination of value for money, location and service. My room was clean and well looked after (small but that was fine). The staff were a delight, helpful, cheerful and thoroughly nice people. The location was great, Ha Noi was fantastic and all in all a holiday to be be remembered for life. My week came after an arduous 8 days cycling from Ha Noi to Son La, to Dien Bien and finally to Sapa were I caught the overnight train back to Ha Noi. I needed the rest and the Pacific ticked all the boxes for me, a great choice and totally recommended - it's 2 star rating does not do it credit.

The hotel was excellent. We arrived late at night and our twin room was ready. A good size, clean and well maintained. The bathroom ensuite was also clean. The staff were very friendly, with the young manager very helpful with questions. directions and travel tips about the city. Breakfast (selection etc) could be improved but that is the only negative aspect. We had access to free internet in the dining room and the cooling in the room worked fine. Rooms were cleaned every day and we even recieved a bowl of fresh fruit each morning. We booked a Ha Long bay trip and arrived back mid afternoon, a few hours before we were due to leave Hanoi. The manager, at no charge, allowed us to use a room to get changed/showered etc before we left the hotel. I would stay again. Taxis were cheap and the staff were happy to get them for us. My only advice is watch out when walking around Hanoi and outside the hotel. The hotel is fairly central, a few mins from the lake and the traffic is crazy, so be careful! There are some nice restaraunts nearby.

Great location, The subway station is three minutes away on foot, The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast is good. The rooms are clean, so is the bathroom. Thanks again, everything was really great!

outstanding service from Mr. Vi at the travel desk. He speaks English.. Some details in the description need update: 24 hours room service? Restaurant closed at night, we arrived late, were told to go outside to eat. Business center? One computer, after much coaxing by the staff, is doing its thing in Vietnamese, can be activated to do English after more coaxing. Massage? They can call somebody from outside, takes a good 1/2 an hour. She does ok. Safe deposit box? No work, not to be fixed. Tea coffee making? not there. View? None from our room. Walking distance to the lake 8 min? for young speedwalkers training for Marathon, we take at least 20 minutes. Heart of the old city? No. English papers? No seeum. The "buffer breakfast" (sic) is a giveaway to the English abilities. But, I guess, we got what we paid for..
