Hilton Hanoi Opera Reviews :
Oasis of calm but not that central and expensive by frequentflyerSeaford - tripadvisor.com A tranquil air con haven from the madness that is Hanoi. Room comfortable with huge lovely bed and full, modern bathroom full bath and sep shower cubicle. Decor green with garish wallpaper and a bit gloomy. Internet access $15/day - expensive but fast. Food a little bland but high quality and lots of choice - room service and bar prices very expensive by local standards. No breakfast before 6am and reception staff insisted on booking a taxi 3 hours before a domestic departure, despite my protest that 2 hours woukd be fine. Outdated TV and no in room movies. Located by very busy roads that are intimidating to cross and every time you step outside taxi/cyclo touts and various others pester persistently. Quite a (difficult due to roads) walk from anything you want to see. Tour desk effective but as one would expect charges over the going rate - pre book any tours with Viator or similar for a better deal.
Fantastic view of the Opera House by Rodan44 - virtualtourist.com All the first-class comforts and amenities that you would expect from a Hilton. Large rooms and helpful, well-trained staff. Within short walking distance to the sites in the old city. Several touts linger around the perimieter of the hotel, but they aren't too aggressive. Definitely get a room with a view of the majestic Hanoi Opera.
Excellent choice ! by jamesGRPT - tripadvisor.com Booked via internet to have a nive hotel when arriving in Vietnam after a long flight. We indeed had a very good time in this hotel with perfect service and an excellent breakfast (both European and vietnamese food). The bathroom is brand new and fully equiped. It is not located in the city centre however but close to the Opera, a nice part of the city as well.
First-rate Service and Luxury by KookieDough - virtualtourist.com Our stay at the Hilton Hanoi Opera is one of the best hotel experiences for me. And this is because of only two things - the bed and the service. I am quite meticulous about these two things when we travel and the Hilton did these well. The really comfy, high thread-count sheets and marshmallowy pillows assured me of a sound sleep. But what mattered most was the courteous and hospitable staff they have, from the front desk officers to the chauffeur. Pluses are the old world ambience that goes with the French quarter setting of Hanoi's streets and the good food that they offer. We even got the best foreign exchange rate here. For honeymooners and luxury travellers, this is definitely worth the extra bucks.
Unexciting but hard to fault by TheProbe - tripadvisor.com It'shard to love the Hilton, but it's also hard to fault it (at least as a business hotel). The rooms are deadly dull, but have everything you need. The food in Chez Manon is equally unexciting, but the quality is good. The pool is quite small, but it is heated and opens early. All in all, a decent place to stay.
Great ambience, indian food in vicinity! by gandeev - tripadvisor.com Great hotel with lot of old world charm. Great vegetarian Indian restaurant within walking distance which served Jain food too!
Great place to stay in Hanoi by MKupiainen - tripadvisor.com Stayed at Opera Hilton for two nights, very nice hotel with excellent service. Loved the fresh fruits and juices at breakfast.
Dr. Roger H. Kobayashi - from Omaha, USA - hotels-in-vietnam.com Absolutely superb Hotel with outstanding service, public areas and dinning. We were upgraded on two occasions to the executive floor with side by side rooms for our children. We hosted two dinners for our Vietnamese colleagues and the hotel staff did a superb job on both occasions, arranging everything in an elegant, but friendly setting. Our rooms had all the amenities we needed and the high speed internet service was efficient, the business center excellent, taking care of my teaching slides and materials. The public areas were great to welcome visitors and the bar area was large, accomodating and private enough to conduct business. We refer people to stay at this hotel.
THE place to stay by slj_10 - tripadvisor.com A central location that is well run, calm, quiet , has good food and ammenities. Service was excellent, well beyond the norm, the pool was the perfect temperature and offered a truly welcome opportunity to wash off the grime off this polluted city....
Location a plus by Balisand - tripadvisor.com Had a very pleasant 4 days at Hilton Hanoi Opera. Recommend it for its position - away from the in-your-face madness of the Old Quarter, it offers a bit of elbow room and space to relax after the frenetic streets of Hanoi. Walking distance to Hoan Kiem Lake, excellent shopping and good restaurants. The hotel's Vietnamese restaurant, Ba Mien, was outstanding. The concierge staff made other very good suggestions for dining, both upmarket and budget level. The travel desk booked two successful tours (city tour on Day 1 and Halong Bay on Day 3). Overall the hotel had a rather impersonal "Hilton" feel, but the staff were always friendly and helpful. I wouldn't usually stay in such a "corporate" hotel, or use a hotel tour desk, but the location, the services and the staff were tops.
Easily the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam by Choppies64 - tripadvisor.com Good location, good breakfast, large comfortable room and luxurious bathroom. Free wireless internet in the lobby. As others have stated, it is an oasis of calm in an otherwise hectic city. This hotel was everything we wanted and really quite reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to recommend the Hilton to anyone travelling to Hanoi.
A Very Good Hotel, Well Located in Hanoi by VOYAGEURShanghai - tripadvisor.com We stayed 4 nights in Hilton Hanoi at the end of 2009. On the whole we can say this was a pleasant stay. Our room was at the Executive floor and we had access to the lounge. To be more accurate and useful, here are some comments:
- Room: The rooms (we had 2 different rooms) are of a very good quality, nice, well decorated and equiped (also with a safe). Still, the TV is old fashioned but fits very well with the Vietnamese style furniture. The air conditioning system works well but doesn't provide much heat when the weather is cold and rainy outside. The bathroom is large, modern and convenient with a good range of amenities.
- Breakfast: The breakfast is of a good quality with a proper selection including fresh cut fruits, cereals, bread, pastries (still the quality of croissants, chocolate croissants, rolls... are below the average), cheese (good), warm dishes (good) and deserts like pancakes or waffles (the latter are very good).
- Lounge: The lounge is very nice, large and well decorated. The music (classical or similar) in the lounge is good, not too loud, and relaxing. The quality of the evening hot snacks may have decreased a little bit since 2008 (may be because of the crisis and cost savings). Still, you can enjoy good red and white wines (French, Chilian), beverage, good and typical local appetizers, cheese (very good but we would prefer bread with it instead of salty crackers) and deserts (very good). You can also have alcool but is this really a must when you have good wine ? Otherwise, Internet is access free with 2 computers. Such a service is now a standard in most hotels by still very appreciated by customers. The service at the lounge is of a very good quality, customer focused.
- Service: The service is of an overall very good quality. The check-in and check-out procedures (at the groundfloor lobby or at the lounge) are fast, the luggage service efficient. The house keeping staff is efficient, polite, smiling and friendly (still the control of the minibar at 9am in the middle of a stay is unsual).
- Limousine service: Very good with impressive and silent BMW car, safe driver.
- Fitness: The fitness centre is a little bit small... But we didn't spend much time there. There is a swimming pool (large enough to swim).
To conclude with, we say that Hilton Hanoi is a very good hotel, well located near the Opera.
AN OASIS OF QUIET CLEANLINESS AND ORDER by travel666 - tripadvisor.com Went to Hanoi 12-2009 for 3 days as a tourist. Environmentally, Hanoi is the Mexico City of Asia: it is extremely polluted; vigorous outdoor exercise is not a good idea….I got pollution induced laryngitis. Hanoi is also very noisy and entropic because there are only a few dozen traffic lights to regulate a few hundred thousand motorcycles which are constant honking their horns; to prove that the Gibbs free energy must increase, the citizens ignore even the few dozen traffic lights which is bizarre in an authoritarian state. Coming back at the end of the day to the Hanoi Hilton is a joy: clean air, a nice gym, a beautiful pool, and a quiet lobby bar which even has a string quartet for cocktail hour Mozart. The desk staff is great with directions and restaurant/bar suggestions. The most fun place I visited was Cowboy 17; it was a time warp back to a 1980s go-go bar with a great live band; all the bartenders are cute girls in matching skinny jeans who also go-go dance…a nice proletarian revolution.
Service with a smile... and no smile by Balleta - tripadvisor.com When we checked-in, a middle-aged Vietnamese lady reception staff told us breakfast is at Level R. I know of Level M, Level L, Level G, Level B in other buildings, but I have never heard of Level R, so I have no idea whether it is above or below the floor I was standing at the moment. So I asked her, and she looked irritated. She can be more polite and a smile will be helpful. She is in sharp contrast with the Caucasian lady at the reception whom I approached to exchange a VND 500,000 note into smaller bills, she really served with a smile !!! Anyway, the location of the hotel is good, walking distance to Hoan Kiem Lake. The TV in the room is small and not LCD. The complimentary bottled water tastes a little salty (if you have a sensitive tongue). The "welcome letter" from HHonors Guest Manager is not signed, looks more sincere if signed, isn't it?
