I stayed at the GOLDEN LAND HOTEL in November for two days and nights. It is not a large hotel, my friend and i found it very comfortable , very clean and spacious , it has LCD > TV , beautifull SPA BATH with all amenities . The Owner Manager , one of the nicest and helpfull gentleman i have met was so helpfull and nothing was to much trouble when one needed anything , The staff were very helpfull and always there to look after there customers also . I would have no hesitation going to stay there again and i fully recomend the GOLDEN LAND HOTEL , it is so close to the centre of Ha Noi , and Hoa Kiem Lake which is realy lovely and all the interesting little shops and large stores , my name is Mr Ron Andrews , my e-mail ron160842@ westnet .com.au if you need to know more please contact me . thank you .
Extremely accommodating by elephant73 - tripadvisor.com My wife and i spent two weeks in Hanoi because we wanted time to absorb the city. After much deliberation, we decided to stay at the Golden Land Hotel, for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is centrally located in the Old Quarter. Also, it seemed to be modern, tasteful and clean, with excellent facilities. And thirdly, because we had seen many positive reviews of the place and, more particularly, Mr Tung the manager. As it turned out, we made an very good decision.
The rooms were lovely. We had a balcony so we felt like we were always part of the action, even when we stayed in, but the double glazed windows kept the noise out when we needed quiet. There was good Internet in the room, big screen cable TV for when we needed to unwind, and breakfast brought to your room took the pressure off the mornings.
Mr Tung was a superb host and helpful guide. All service was performed graciously and with a smile. I lost my card in an ATM. Mr Tung had it retrieved. My wife was involved in a minor accident, Mr Tung was most helpful and knowing re: medical attention, sending us to an excellent hospital that wasn't in the guide book. A friend staying with us needed train tickets booked, Mr Tung obliged, and everything went smoothly. His concern and interest was genuine and personal. The rest of the staff were equally helpful, polite and friendly.
The whole trip was a delight and I have to say, I feel like I made a friend there, and look forward to returning next time we are in Hanoi.
Reviews by travelingtexan69_9 - tripadvisor.co.uk Quiet, quiet, quiet (and softer beds)--can't say any better than that in Hanoi! We stayed at another hotel for one night and left the next morning in search of a new hotel because of the noise. I am an easy sleeper and travel with ear plugs but can't emphasize enough how important it is to find a room in Hanoi that is quiet. Horns are going constantly. The $25 we had spent on rooms in most of Vietnam seemed to get a bit less of a hotel in Hanoi so when we found the Golden Land for $40 we were very pleased to say the least. As quiet as you can get due to the double paned windows and the beds had nice linens, almost soft mattresses (only one of two we encountered in all of Vietnam), and fluffy down duvet. Small hotel with only one room per floor so you will not hear any noise from others in the hallway at night or in morning. Computer in room upon request. The entire hotel seems to be completely remodeled as if new and the bathrooms are especially nice with a jacuzzi tub that makes you want to grab a book and relax for a while in the evening. Breakfast is room service which was nice. I only have fruit and tea so breakfast was fine for me. My friend would have liked a more substantial breakfast as we had in some other hotels, but it was satisfactory. Location excellent in old town--just a few blocks off from the budget hotels on the loud streets and it makes all the difference. Same street as the cathedral.
Manager could not have been more helpful. He is there most of the time but nights he has two other employees working--they speak little English but call and put him on the phone if you have a question while he's gone. We booked only one thing through him which was an overnight Halong Bay boat trip at the last minute. The boat was very nice and excellent food as described in his information. I personally did not care for the one night Halong Bay trip as it was the most touristy thing we did in Vietnam but that has nothing to do with this particular boat/tour. All the tours are doing exactly the same thing together (cave tour, kayak one hour with about 150 other folks in the area and tons of boats, etc). Hard to get around this unless you have two or three nights to spend in Halong Bay area to get a intimate/private boat to take you exactly where you want to go then stay in Cat Ba. Off subject from hotel review, sorry.
Walking distance to most things and if you like the street food several great places within about three blocks. Most of them don't appear until about 5:30 or 6pm--pho lady one block NE (she moves around a bit) is great. Place a few blocks over that has a few grills on the corner and quite a layout of meat, fish, veggies to be grilled in front of you. Perfect place to people watch especially on Friday night. Same block just North of hotel on corner is a restaurant (you will see people being led upstairs) that specializes in a popular dish (best if you are a port/meat eater) that my friend thought was fantastic. Nothing fancy.
Bottom line, after a miserable sleepless night at a $25 hotel nearby and looking at about six other hotels the next day the Golden Land was FAR superior to anything else we saw for $20-$40. Very new and relaxing to come back to after each day in busy, loud, hectic and FANTASTIC Hanoi. Stayed a week and couldn't get enough of it.
Golden hotel! Brilliant staff! by ARINKA - tripadvisor.co.uk I stayed at Golden Land twice during my two-week trip around Vietnam. First, I spent there three nights just upon arrival; second, it was one night before departure. Without a doubt, it was the best choice I could make.
The hotel is small and comprises only a few rooms (I don’t like huge hotels where service is stream-oriented and lacks family warm atmosphere of small hotels).
The hotel is located in utterly convenient place: in the very center of Old Quarter, just within five-minute walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and famous Water Puppet Theater, and within two-minute walk from St. Joseph's Cathedral. At that, the hotel is in a quiet street (as much quiet as a Hanoi street might be). Soundproof windows turn this place into an oasis of silence and peace in the very heart of the ever-active city.
The room itself is very comfortable: large, clean, bright, with stylish décor; it is also equipped with two king-size beds, large LCD TV-set, and Internet-connected computer. Naturally, the room also has fridge, telephone, and air-conditioner, and all equipment is new and operates perfectly well. I should mention the balcony as well: there I spent a lot of time observing life in the city and breathing its wet air. Spacious bathroom is provided with new bathroom fitments.
The great surprise was to find a hot whirlpool instead of common bathtub or shower stall. I haven’t seen that before even in four-star hotels! Whirlpool massage is the best relaxant after lengthy walks around Hanoi! The hotel also has excellent elevator. Breakfast is room-served at appointed time and may be chosen from several variants including European and Vietnamese cuisine.
The most hearty welcome in the hotel was nicely supplemented with daily fresh fruits and flowers in the room. And the major merit of the place is its team under competent supervision of Mr. Tung, General Manager. Mr. Tung is incredibly caring, attentive, and friendly person with ever-lasting smile on his face. He took complete care of my trip to Sapa (hotel booking, train tickets, transfer). Without his help, I could hardly visit Tam Coc and Hoa Lu (I asked Mr. Tung to book this trip at about 11 p.m., when all travel agencies were long since closed). He also provided valuable advices and recommendations on various subjects. I appreciated his assistance especially since I travelled alone and it was my first visit to Asia. Mr. Tung painted my days in Hanoi in bright and light-hearted colors.
When I got back to Hanoi after 10-day trip around Northern Vietnam, I felt myself in Golden Land hotel like I was back home!
I sincerely recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for the best location, maximum comfort, perfect service and care, and – last, but not least! – sparing your money.
Great location, helpful staff, comfort and serenity by mas47 - tripadvisor.co.uk understated rooms with lots of windows overlooking street for rooftop views of old quarter (from sixth floor) ; after tromping around old quarter all day a bit of peace and quiet! Breakfast in room made life even more comfortable but hard to ask for refills on tea!
They can get taxis to anywhere and honest ones, reducing another possible stressor!
Nice Modern Rooms at a Good Price by CTonego - tripadvisor.com I picked this hotel based on reviews that the rooms were quiet & from the photos, but I was unsure about what to expect b/c all the reviews were so positive and I was concerned that some might be fake. But my husband and I were very pleased with Golden Land overall. The rooms are beautiful, the service & location are good, & the price is right.
We arranged for their airport pickup service - they use private taxi drivers apparently.
The location is great - right across from the Hanoi Garden restaurant and a fancy looking hotel called Hong Ngoc. Right down the street is a delicious Bun Cha joint. It's probably a fast 5 minute walk to the lake. If you want to explore other parts of the Old Quarter, this hotel is right in the middle of it all.
We got the family suite with a balcony b/c the other double rooms were booked. The windows were thick, but we could still hear some muted honking (be prepared for the crazy honking in this city). But our 4 month old baby was still able to sleep in her cot by the windows.
The room was big, clean, modern & new (our room really looked like the photos on the website)- nice LCD TV with lots of channels. Very comfortable. The only thing that I noticed that I kind of missed was having a hot pot in our room - but if you ask for hot water, they'll give you a flask. There also wasn't a safety deposit box in our room when we arrived. We asked for one the next day and they brought one in.
Our first morning, our breakfast was an hour late & not what we had ordered (they give you a choice of 6 items that you place an order for the day before). It wasn't very good - just 2 pieces of rather hard toast, an egg, juice & watermelon. At this point, I was wondering whether the service was going to be sub-par - no explanation had been given for the change. But later we went downstairs and mentioned it to the owner/manager, who speaks excellent English, and he explained that the receptionist (who's English seems to be limited) had been busy fixing the hot water that morning. We had 3 more breakfasts there without incident (the pho was good). Other than that, everything was great.
We were really happy with Golden Land - it felt like our home away from home. We would definitely be happy to go back there and recommend it to others.
A haven in the perfect location + great rooms + wonderful staff. Treat yourself! - tripadvisor.com An exceptional boutique hotel with the most friendliest and helpful staff we have ever come across. With such a wonderful place to stay, we could really relax and enjoy ourselves in old Hanoi. Everything was just right for a perfect nights sleep. We look forward to going back next time. There are only 7 rooms, so if you don't want to miss out, book ahead.
Best hotel in Hanoi by smilli8e33 - tripadvisor.com this is a must for anyone: budget travellers, high end businessmen, families! The staff couldn't have been more accomodating and friendly! The best hotel in Hanoi!!!!!! A jacuzzi bath in every room tops it off!! Mr Tung was extremely helpful and honest as well!
A most excellent place to stay in the old quarter of Hanoi - tripadvisor.com a real pleasure to stay with Mr Trung and his friendly curteous staff. We spent xmas 09 in Hanoi and had a brilliant time, loved Hanoi and staying at the Golden Land hotel was a real treat, definitely enhanced the pleasure of our stay in Hanoi. This is a stylish clean quiet and central place to stay. Will certainly be returning.
Fantastic! by evelynvdH - tripadvisor.com Golden Land was jewel for us at the end of our 4 week tour of Indochina!!! We stayed at many different and varying places- guest houses, small hotels, etc with our tour group and this was the very best of all!!. We had booked this hotel ourselves in Adelaide before we left and moved there after deciding not to stay after the first night at the hotel organised by the tour. We stayed for 2 nights in the middle of January. Mr Tung was incredibly helpful, and as others have said in previous reviews he couldn't do enough for us!! Always a greeting and smile when we returned from our walks or a tour (for us to Halong Bay)!! The rooms were so comfortable and well appointed with little touches like a platter of fruit, ornaments, and thick windows to keep out the traffic noise. We slept very well but I slept even better after I had my jacuzzi bath with my book and a drink!!! What a treat that was! No where on our trip did we stay at a place with such a thing so it was one of the first things I enjoyed when we got there!! It was so close to everything , we wanted to be in the Old Quarter. We stayed in the room on the seventh floor and we had a great view of Hanoi! It was so interesting to see what was happening on the tops of the buildings and rooftops! I would highly recommend this hotel and we'd definitely stay there again. Thank you Mr. Tung- you are on a winner!!!!!!!
Golden Land Hotel is a very warm and pleasant place to stay - tripadvisor.com Staying with Golden Land was a very pleasant experience during our Hanoi trip. Mr Tung was very helpful from the first time we contacted him for the room booking to airport transportation in our last day in Hanoi. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful, and were always with smiles on their face. The rooms are extremely clean, stylish, and with excellent facilities. The room-service breakfast was tasteful. Golden Land Hotel would be our first choice should we visit Hanoi again!
Neat and tidy, friendly staff Neat and tidy, friendly staff - tripadvisor.com Was a big room with balcony. The windows were double thick so you could shut them and not even hear the busy Old Quarter below. Jacuzzi in the bathroom and comfy beds. The place had a elevator which is handy if your up a few floors. I didnt eat to much at the hotel but they have a good selection and its delivered to your door. Staff were always helpful and nothing was ever a problem
This hotel is Excellent in every sense! - tripadvisor.com We stayed at the Golden Land hotel after being recommended by a couple of friends who had stayed here a couple months ago and we couldn't have asked for anything better. Price/Quality for this hotel is unbeatable. The rooms are brand new with big flat screen LCD, excellent air conditioner, excellent big queen size bed, bathrooms with ammenities, hot shower, jacuzzi and everything new (the hotel is less than 6 months old), breakfast is included in the rates and it is served everyday in your room, free Wi-Fi (it worked perfectly with very good speed), and the best of all the service of the owner Mr. Tung is amazing. Nothing seemed to be too difficult to achieve for the staff who were always wanting to please us.
Our stay was for 6 nights when we initially had only planned for 2. Mr Tung arranged for our tour to Halong Bay in the Phoenix Cruiser (an excellent choice) at a very good price (we compared to others in the boat and we were among the ones with the cheapest cost), he booked our tickets with Vietnam Airlines (at the same price as their website with no extra cost), picked us up at the airport.. We have been travelling for over 6 months now and stayed in plenty 3/4 star hotels and this will have to be one of the best services if not the best we have received, even when compared to any of the bigger chains (a luxury possible maybe because its small and managed by the owner).
Location of the hotel was very good between the Old Quarter and the Hoan Kiem Lake wich made the top attractions pretty much walking distance or a short tuk tuk ride. The neighborhood was very safe, we walked at night almost everyday and never worried about it. There is great food in a restaurant across the street (Hanoi Garden) and if you like cheaper places there is plente to choose in that same street or nearby. Markets and cafes are all walking distance 2 - 5 blocks away.
Overall we had an excellent experience with this hotel and won't hesitate to recommend to anyone travelling to Hanoi looking for a great hotel with good value for money.
Great location, charming people - tripadvisor.com This hotel was recommended by Dima from APT travel agency in Hanoi. we enjoyed very much our stay in this hotel. it's central location, warm atmosphere, home feeling and very helpful hotel staff.
The best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam - tripadvisor.com We travel through Asia with 3 small children and Golden Land Hotel in Hanoi was the most modern, had the best facilities, best city location and the most helpful and friendly staff we met during our travel. Our oldest child asked why this hotel did not have a better star rating as it was the only hotel we had with our own jacuzzi, own PC and flat screen TV with Cartoon network and balcony. We do not know how they give out the star ratings, but our only guess is Golden Land does not have a restaurant. However, they do serve breakfast as room service on your request and then Hanoi has plenty of restaurants for the other meals. We started staying in Hanoi at a 3 star hotel which we moved away from because it was not that good and too expensive and we had to have 2 rooms because we were five persons. Golden Land on the other hand have large rooms and and the value for money is fantastic. We therefore ended up coming back 3 times in 3 different rooms during our travel with the same experience each time. The manager is very helpful if you want if you to go and see something and he can help finding other hotels in Vietnam for you. We ended up using his help for our other hotels in Vietnam and for the transport and the prices he provided we could not achieve any other places. We would defintly recommend Golden Land with or without children :o)
